Technical detail
- 🟦 Microsoft SQL Server (2000 → 2008 R2 → current versions): T-SQL development, stored procedures and functions, SSIS data integration/ETL packages, indexing strategy, execution-plan analysis, partitioning, backup/restore and production support.
- 🟩 PostgreSQL: PL/pgSQL, schema design, window functions and CTEs, JSONB modelling, extensions, vacuum/autovacuum and planner tuning, plus streaming replication and read replicas for scaling.
- 🟥 Oracle (9i – 12c) and MySQL: PL/SQL, materialised views, RAC/WebLogic-era enterprise deployments, performance tuning and migration work.
- 📊 Data engineering depth: ER modelling, normalisation vs. pragmatic denormalisation, analytical query design, ETL/ELT with SSIS/DataStage/Pentaho/Airflow, historical reporting and data-quality controls. I have worked with relational platforms cumulatively for more than 20 years (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Informix).
🧰 Beyond SQL itself I handle the operational side: connection pooling, transaction isolation choices, deadlock diagnosis, lock/blocking analysis, index maintenance, capacity planning and query refactoring for p95 latency. 🧪 Data-access code is covered by tests, and every hot query is validated against real execution plans before release.
🧾 CV evidence: CV: 'Extensive knowledge with relational databases Oracle, Informix, MySQL, PostgreSQL Server accumulated for almost 15 years' (2023 record, i.e. 20+ years counting the latest years); Databases: Oracle 9i-11g-12c, Sybase, SQL Server 2000/2008 R2; 2025 CV lists Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake.
